  2. I suffer from Anxiety and PTSD. In combination with Asperger Syndrome I have allot of trouble coping with stress and keeping my mind on things I want to learn. I usually use Meditation to cope, which helps allot, but it’s difficult to relax enough to do that while in the middle of anxiety. Problem I have is that I can’t take Medications for this because the side effects are often worse than the problem.

    I read that L-Theanine creates the same effects in the mind as a meditative state so I bought this.

    Taking between 1 and 2 Grams a day, I still experience stress, but it affects me differently. I was also able to focus on my work. In the one month since taking it, I learned 2 programming languages, (Visual Basic .NET and C# .NET) and now I am learning XNA, DirectX, Assembly, and even creating 3D Models for my own 3D games! I would never have been able to focus that well for so long without burning myself out before.

    This literally solved almost all of my problems.

    Taking it to help me sleep, well, that didn’t work out so well. It stopped racing thoughts, and made me calmer, but didn’t actually “sedate” so it had only a minimal benefit for sleep. But because it didn’t sedate I was able to use it more when working.

    It’s immune system enhancing effects are also of significant benefit to me.

    When I was 10 years old I suffered from Scarlet Fever. I was not properly diagnosed so didn’t get any antibiotics for a few months. Left untreated I didn’t recover at all and when they finally put me on antibiotics they put me on them for a whole 6 months. So now, because I had Scarlet Fever for almost a whole year, and because I was given too many antibiotics, I usually have a very very bad reaction to a Strep Infection and antibiotics never work for it because my body developed a resistance to most of the really strong ones.

    Well, I caught Strep again this month. But I didn’t get the same bad reaction. I had allot of coughing, hot flashes, etc. I still got sick. But it wasn’t as serious as it usually is. In fact, I have NEVER had the Strep before so insevere.

    I wouldn’t go so far as to say Theanine would keep me from getting sick, but taking it seemed to improve my ability to recover from sickness.

    The only downside I noted was when going to the Gym. It was actually more difficult to maintain a focus for pushing myself to lift more or run faster. I don’t think the Theanine itself inhibited physical performance in any way, but the calm mind finds it difficult to have the will to be anything but calm.

    With that being the only downside I found myself taking more when I felt I needed it, without having to worry about taking too much. I think all the Prescription Drugs to combat the problems I have can be replaced by L-Theanine. Sadly, I ran out in less than a month. But it was worth every penny and I’ll be buying more.

  3. I was diagnosed with severe panick anxiety disorder. Please try l-theanine. Take 800-1600 mg per day (My doctor reccomended it to me, since I refused to take lexipro or xanax) This stuff really works when taking at least 800mg per day. The pills come in 200mg, so that is 4- 8 pills per day. I usually take 6 pills per day. You can get 120 pills on amazon subscription for $25.00 =) Hope this helps. This does not relieve ALL of the anxiety, but it makes my life manageable. It is really great stuff.

    I dont have ADD or ADHD but I purchased these after the idea that Japan uses L-Theanine to help ADD children. I need as much help as I can get for college and I am willing to give anything a try. I’ve been taking these for two weeks now and I have seen an improvement in my study habbits. I am able to study for long hours (4 to 8 hours) with little to no breaks. I used to spend around 20 minutes studying before I got easily distracted or bored and found myself hours latter doing someting else and not studiying. I havent really notice much on stress since I’m not much of a stresser. But so far I have not found any side effects of any thing upsetting. I will continue to use them until I see any negative effects. I take two pills, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon of right before I go to school.

    I was hypothyroid and my doctor decided to double my dose of medication, I did not know you are not supposed to do that I found out quick. The over medication made me hyperthyroid which is more dangerous, I only say this to let people know who has hyperthyroidism, this stuff works. Hypers get very shaky and get palps of the heart. Within 1 hour of taking this I feel the calm rush over me.

    I take it almost every day just once and occassionaly I take one a few hours before bed and I seem to sleep a little better.

    I have been using Source Naturals for years and they are the best.

    I use MSM it is the highest quality.
